LTI Motor Technology

Motor Technology

Due to the on-going restrictions in place due to Covid-19, the start date of this course has been deferred until further notice. It is envisaged that the QQI Level 5 Motor Technology will come back on stream around September 2020

The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop the required knowledge, skills and competence in motor technology in order to meet the standards set by the awarding body in the award specification for Motor Technology level 5

The course is delivered over 38 weeks. This is a FULL TIME programme.

Classes will run each morning from approximately 9.15am to 4.15pm from Monday to Thursday and 9:15am to 2:45pm on Fridays.

This course will be held in Ennis.

It is offered by Clare Local Development Company in partnership with LCETB.

Start Your Own Business – 8 Week Course

CLDC delivers a programme which sets out basic grounding to individuals who wish to start their own business, from the development of the initial idea, to common dangers and pitfalls to taking your product to market and encouraging individuals to focus on their strengths while critically reflecting on areas that need to be addressed when developing a business idea.
The course runs for 2.5 hours per week for 8 weeks. It is a non accredited course for individuals who are long term unemployed.

Start Your Own Business – 1 Day Course

Start Your Own Business

Course Aim: To provide an overview of self-employment as a viable option for individuals who are unemployed and are receiving supports under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP). The Start Your Own Business (SYOB) course will give individuals who are considering setting up a business key information and practical steps for them to take.

Course Content

The course content is designed to support micro and small enterprises to develop and create sustainable self employed job opportunities through a series of capacity building sessions, including but not limited to:

  • Traits of the Entrepreneur, Am I suited to being self-employed?
  • Setting up a business – types of business and legal implications.
  • Funding my business, set up costs and getting support
  • Marketing- making my business work, creating a market for my business
  • Sales and financial forecasting –  Profit &Loss and Cash Flow
  • Business accounts.
  • Understanding your customer. Profiling your customer
  • Finalising your Business Plan including Market Research, Financial Planning/Forecasting & Self and business SWOT analysis.
  • Unique Selling Points of Your Business.
  • Start-up supports – Clare Local Enterprise Office, LEADER, Chambers of Commerce, DSP Grants.

 

Course Outcomes

 Upon completion of the courseit is proposed that all who attend in full will leave with the following;

  • Business plan template complete or near competition
  • Understand what supports are available
  • Understand who are the business customers
  • Know how to promote a business
  • Understand the basics of managing business money and how to work with my accountant

 

Course Duration: 4 sessions, 2.5 to 3hrs in duration per session. The course runs over 10 to 12 hours in full.

Micro Enterprise Finance

Basic Accounts and Tax for Small Business

Course Aim: This course is for micro and small size business owners who wish to prepare and file their annual income tax return with Revenue. The course should guide participants through the process of preparing and filing a tax return. The course outlines the basics of setting up a business, keeping financial records and making informed financial decisions.

Course Content 

  • Tips on good bookkeeping practices & what records to keep.
  • Income and expenses to include in arriving at taxable profit.
  • Allowable and non- allowable expense when arriving at taxable profit.
  • How to calculate taxable profit.
  • Allowances on business assets.
  • Pension deductions.
  • Tax treatment of Revenue & Capital Grants.
  • Demonstration on how to file returns and make payments using ROS.
  • Deadline for filing income tax return.
  • Preliminary tax – how to prepare for it, how to calculate it and when to pay it?
  • What happens if you initially make Losses and how to utilise them.
  • Affordable accounts software.
  • Revenues criteria to become self employed.

  • Knowledge on the type of financial records required.
  • Ability to prepare and file an annual income tax return with Revenue.
