Additional Supports

Assessment of Suitability

A process called the Assessment of Suitability must first be carried out by a Employment Personnel Advisor from the Intreo Office – Department of Social Protection (DSP) to establish eligibility for either the BTWEA or STEA scheme.

If not eligible for the BTWEA or STEA, the Enterprise Officer will be able to assist clients in looking at other possible support options.

It is a requirement from DSP that a start your own business course must be completed prior to submitting your application for Back to Work Enterprise Allowance.

At any point in this process if you are unsure of anything please contact one of the SICAP team in CLDC and we will be happy to guide you through the steps to apply for either allowance. We will provide you with important information that will help your transition to self employment run smoothly.
