CLDC’s Statement of Decision to leave Twitter/X

CLDC’s Statement of Decision to leave Twitter/X

STATEMENT OF DECISION

Clare Local Development Company wishes to share that as an organisation, we will no longer use or endorse the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

CLDC is an organisation that promotes and practices tolerance and support for all people, especially disadvantaged communities and marginalised voices. We no longer feel that X/Twitter is fairly moderated or democratically managed, and we strongly disagree with actions taken by the company which have contributed to the spread of disinformation and hate speech, incited violence and discrimination, and threatened the safety of the public (particularly people who have faced systemic discrimination). We believe that using X/Twitter is no longer in integrity with our values as an organisation.

We will continue to use other social media platforms in a way that aligns with our values, to the best of our ability.

Successful group of “Start Your Own Business” trainees get support with their ideas

As part of the SICAP Enterprise Supports we offer here at CLDC we regularly run Start Your Own Business Courses.
These courses are available to anyone who is registered with us and cover all aspects of starting a business in Ireland.

Anyone who is interested in applying for the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance will be required to do this course to ensure they have strong Business idea and Plan.

In the latest group to take our course in July (pictured here with Evelyn Cormican, Business Trainer) we had some interesting business ideas including Children’s mindfulness classes, Artists, Nail Technicians, Food producer, Tourism Business, Therapy, Fitness, Future Financial planner and a Furniture maker.

Each have completed the course and are ready to take the next steps in their new businesses. We wish them all the Best!

For more information on Start Your Own Business Courses, or any Enterprise supports, contact Siobhan (spurcell@cldc.ie).

Graney River Drop-In Consultation Event

Graney River Drop-In Consultation Event

The Waters of LIFE is an EU funded project which aims to protect and enhance Ireland’s cleanest rivers. One of the areas in which the project will be working is the Graney catchment on the Clare / Galway border.

Drop-in consultations on the Waters of LIFE project will be held in Flagmount Digital Hub (beside Flagmount Community Hall and National School) from 12:30pm to 2:30pm and 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday 30th July and Thursday 1st August.

The purpose of these events is to update landowners and the local community on the assessment of the Graney catchment, and to get local information and opinions about the river.
All are welcome to attend. For further information, contact John Kelly at johnX.kelly@housing.gov.ie
