Songs, stories and Traveller pride in Ennis

Music, storytelling and laughter filled glór in Ennis as Clare Traveller Community Development Project brought Traveller Pride 2026 to life with an evening of culture, connection and community. The video below captures a flavour of the night, as Travellers of all ages shared songs and stories that spoke to pride in identity, family and tradition.

Building on the powerful theatre piece It’s a Cultural Thing – or is it? by Michael Collins, the celebration moved naturally into an open, relaxed session, where people took turns at the mic and encouraged one another on. What comes across most clearly is the warmth in the room – the easy banter, the rhythm of the music, and the sense of people feeling at home in their own culture.

Traveller Pride Week is about visibility and voice, and this event showed both in a very local, very human way. Through evenings like this, Clare Traveller CDP and CLDC are helping to make sure Traveller culture is not only respected, but celebrated as a living, evolving part of life in Clare.
