Supporting Clare’s young people and families to reach their full potential
Education Initiatives

CLDC works to mitigate against education disadvantage in Co. Clare. We support schools and informal education providers to promote equality of participation, opportunity and to encourage achievement in learning.

Breakfast Clubs

This targeted initiative has been running in the post primary schools in Clare for several years and caters for young people who are coming to school without breakfast. This happens for a variety of reasons but crucially for our priority groups because their families are struggling to or do not provide food and nourishment for them in the morning. Without food they cannot concentrate, cannot learn and cannot maintain their energy levels.

Homework Projects

We manage and deliver targeted Homework Projects in DEIS schools to young people who need support to complete their work and ensure that they are able to fully participate in their education.

After School Programmes

CLDC provides funding, guidance and support to post primary schools and community and voluntary organisations to deliver after schools to supports to children and young people in their areas who need it.

Education Supports

We provide alternative education programmes and online grind supports in the form of iScoil and JumpAgrade to young people who require grinds or a more informal environment for learning.

Wellbeing for Young People and Families

Soft Skills and Well-Being Supports for Children, Young People and Families will provide additional resources, opportunities, training, and therapeutic interventions to this cohort to ensure that they have capacity to participate in education, training and life enhancing initiatives and support their personal development and growth.

Youth

CLDC works with Clare Youth Service, Clare Children and Young People Services Committee, Tusla PPFS and other organisations to ensure that we are working to respond to gaps in service provision to young people in need in the county.
