Straw Connect in Clare: Cultural Gathering Celebrating Shared Traditions
Clare Local Development Company is proud to support Straw Connect, a free cultural gathering taking place at Clare Museum, Ennis, on Saturday, 10 October from 12pm.
Led by Anna Scanlan, Straw Connect celebrates the shared heritage, creativity and traditions of Ireland, Poland and Eastern Europe. The event brings people together through straw craft, music, song, dance, art and storytelling, highlighting the unexpected cultural connections found in traditional straw-making practices.

The programme includes a live straw-craft demonstration by artist Maeve Collins, a documentary screening, live traditional performances from Irish, Polish and Ukrainian artists, and exhibitions featuring photography, painting, project artwork and straw creations made by workshop participants across County Clare. Visitors can also take home a handmade piece created during the project.
Supported by CLDC Support for New Communities Programme alongside Creative Ireland Clare, Clare County Council, Clare Museum, Inisowiacy Polish Folk Group and Greener Clare, Straw Connect is an opportunity to celebrate cultural exchange, community participation and the richness of Clare’s diverse communities.
Free admission. Registration is available via Eventbrite.
