Inclusion is one of our core values at CLDC
All of our programmes address inclusion in some way.
Focusing on inclusion means that we work to provide access to opportunities and/or resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalised.
We look especially to identify:
Who is being left behind? Why? What are the barriers that keep people from being able to participate in healthy community, social life, and/or meaningful work? Where are the gaps, and how can we try to fill them?
While we can’t solve all of these systemic issues, we work with people on a local level to understand how the issues impact them, and to find pathways and solutions for people to improve their circumstances and their lives. We meet people where they’re at, and we do our best to work with them towards greater levels of empowerment.
Inclusion activities promote kindness, understanding, participation and equitable opportunity. Programme activities include (but are not limited to):
- Outreach to disadvantaged or isolated communities
- Guidance & mentoring for individuals and groups,
- Skill-building and training based on needs,
- Support with funding or initiatives,
- Integration activities and cultural events,
- Identifying opportunities and making connections,
- Supporting research and policy development,
- Advocacy and education
We often work collaboratively with other organisations to develop more effective and holistic interventions or initiatives.
