First Ukrainian Community Forum – In Ennis!

On March 22, representatives from Ukrainian community groups across Ireland gathered in Ennis for the first SICAP Ukrainian Community Groups Forum. Participants came from counties such as Cork, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon, and Offaly. Leaders from three community groups in County Clare also joined the event.

All attendees had the chance to meet, share experiences, and discuss the challenges facing Ukrainian organizations. Our colleague, Anneli Vaughan, led a training session explaining how SICAP supports local community groups. She also provided valuable tips on how to register and grow their groups.

Another speaker was Nataliia Eysmont, the chairperson of the Ukrainian organization FOUN Kerry in Killarney. Nataliia shared her experiences in building a strong community and talked about successful projects they have implemented. One notable initiative, called FOUNDim, aims to help Ukrainians find housing.

It serves as a platform for connecting Irish hosts with Ukrainian families. Thanks to FOUN Carry, over 40 homes have been filled in just one year.
Such meetings play a vital role in developing local groups. Along with making new connections and generating ideas, participants gain invaluable experience in building, developing, and expanding their organizations.

The forum was organized by Clare Local Development Company as part of the SICAP program.
