A fair approach to climate action, energy, and food — supporting communities across County Clare
Just Transition means making the move to a cleaner, low-carbon future in a way that is fair for everyone. In Clare, this work goes beyond climate alone. It focuses on the real challenges people are facing — including rising energy costs, food poverty, and access to supports.
CLDC’s role is to support communities in practical ways, ensuring that the transition to a more sustainable future improves quality of life, rather than adding further pressure.
What a Just Transition Means
A just transition is about fairness, inclusion, and making sure that no one is left behind. It recognises that climate action, energy use, and food systems are all connected.
In practical terms, this means supporting people to reduce costs, improve living conditions, and build resilience at a local level.
- Supporting households experiencing energy poverty
- Improving access to grants and home energy upgrades
- Building local food knowledge and growing skills
- Strengthening communities through shared learning and support

Why this work matters
