IT Skills – 2018

Level 4

This is a QQI FETAC Level 4 Module in Information Technology.

The programme is designed to provide training opportunities to raise competency levels of individuals, facilitating their progression towards labour market participation. It is to enable the learner to develop the knowledge, skills and competence in a broad range of information and communication technology which lead to employment in a variety of information and communications technology sectors, or progression to further education or training.

The objective of the course is

  1. To learn about how individuals interact with IT in personal and professional life
  2. To gain an understanding of the impact of IT on business
  3. To gain an understanding of how the Internet impacts on personal and business world
  4. To develop skills to navigate the internet and use communication technologies such as email
  5. To develop skills in data entry
  6. To reach a level of competency in data entry to a standard of 15 wpm
  7. To familiarise individuals with the application Word Processing, enabling the individual to carry out common tasks that maybe required of them in the employment sector
